Night Sweats and Acid Reflux

Do not eat within two or three hours before bedtime. If you stop eating at least a couple hours prior to bedtime, you’ll lessen your risk of developing heartburn while you sleep.

Avoid tight clothing. Tight-fitting shirts, belts, and pantyhose can trigger heartburn because they squeeze your stomach. Loosen clothing that hugs your mid-section, and you’ll likely feel some relief.

Lose weight. Losing a little weight can go a long way toward alleviating acid reflux symptoms. In fact, many individuals notice a lessening of symptoms when they drop as little as five to ten pounds.

If you have night sweats but have no symptoms of acid reflux, seek medical help. Keep in mind that it is possible to have acid reflux without noticing any symptoms. This is called silent reflux. Approximately 50 million Americans have silent reflux and if you are experiencing occasional or frequent night sweats, you may want to schedule an appointment with your medical healthcare provider to determine the reasons for your symptoms.
