What Are Some Additional Sources For Antioxidants?

Antioxidants are neutralizing molecules that inhibit the oxidation of other molecules – preventing the reactions that cause free radicals in your body’s chemistry.

Oxidation can be damaging to your body’s natural and complex systems, and are linked to a number of human diseases and degenerative disorders (as well as aging).

Because of their proactive role in preventing the degeneration and damage of the cells in our bodies, antioxidants are an important dietary supplement – a powerful weapon against diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and stroke. They are also effective against certain conditions causing chronic pain and soreness!

So-called “super foods” such as blueberries, beans, and cranberries are naturally high in antioxidants; however, it’s important to have a full compliment of antioxidants to achieve their fullest effect. Proper supplements are one way of ensuring that your body is receiving the maximum benefit from these important molecules.

Why We Need Cholesterol

What Are Some Natural Home Remedies For High Cholesterol Levels?

Cholesterol is typically produced in response to inflammation as a result of excess acidic waste products that build up on the exterior walls of the blood pressure.

Because 80% of the cholesterol in your body is produced by the liver, the effect of your dietary cholesterol is actually quite negligible.

Until the mid-80s, the only treatment for high cholesterol was niacin – Vitamin B3 … but with the proliferation of statin drugs in the late 80s and into the 90s, average cholesterol levels began to lower – so in part to justify the continued dependence on these patented drugs, the standard for cholesterol levels began to drop … first to 200, then again to 100.

Is Lightheadedness Related To Persistent High Blood Pressure?

Is Lightheadedness Related To Persistent High Blood Pressure?

Often times, when moving quickly from a sitting or laying position to a standing position, people can experience temporary light-headedness or dizziness.

Under normal circumstances, this can be a mild nuisance. However, for individuals with a history of high blood pressure, this symptom can be downright alarming!

The good news is, this response is a perfectly normal mechanism triggered by your body’s response to a perceived threat … in other words, whether you jump up to answer the door, get hit by a car, or win the lottery, your body is regulating (dropping) your blood pressure as a reflex – and the lightheaded feeling is a typical result of this reflex.

Can the Flu Shot Give Me the Flu?

Should I Worry About GMOs In The Whole Grains I Consume For Natural Home Remedies?

It’s a well-known fact that whole grains are an essential component to a balanced diet and optimal health.

But there’s been a lot made in the media lately about GMOs – or Genetically Modified Organisms – and for good reason.

Some staple grains and vegetables are now being genetically altered to enable resistance to pesticides and herbicides, extend shelf life – even alter the nutritional content and value of the crops.

Studies are inconclusive as to the long term impact on human health.

So should you be concerned about these “hybrid” grains, or GMO products for natural home remedies?

Should You Use Fish Oil as Your Source for Essential Fatty Acids?

Fish Oils Versus Parent Oils: Which Is The Best Source For The Essential Fatty Acids We Use In Natural Home Remedies?

You may have recently heard a new buzzword in the discussion of our body’s ability to best absorb the essential fatty acids (EFAs) we need – such as Omega 6 and alpha linolenic acids...

Parent Essential Oils – or PEOs for short.

Is it true that PEOs are a more beneficial source of EFAs rather than traditional sources of Omega 3 such as fish oils?

The reality is most of what you’ve heard about PEOs is simply marketing hype – yet another “latest and greatest” product touted as a more “proper” way to benefit the body.

The whole issue with essential fatty acids boils down to one thing - the quality, reliability, and safety of the processing.

What’s important here is not so much where the EFAs come from – it’s how they are handled and processed.

Retinopathy Sufferers Restore Normal Eye Function

The inflammation from retinopathy is a serious matter and can damage the retina of the eye.  If the blood vessels that service the eye are exposed to the inflammation, they begin to remodel, and that’s how the retinopathy develops from an acute to a chronic phase.  Eventually if that inflammation is not addressed, then the retinopathy will lead to even more complications.  However, if the source of the stress is eliminated and appropriate nutrients are delivered, the vascular system will actually remodel in reverse, and the function will be restored.

According to studies on NASA astronauts, once a productive environment is established (usually in twelve weeks), the patient starts to witness a 10% improvement every 21 to 46 days.   The percentage of improvement is cumulative so if the patient sees 10% the first month, then 46 days later he or she should see, not only the 10%, but an additional 20% and so forth. So theoretically, it could take six months to a year for complete recovery.

While this sounds very promising and optimistic, patients need to remember to keep their sugar under control so that they’re not also fighting against the further downfall created by the higher blood sugar, which is the source of the inflammation.

The Arthritis/Depression Connection

Finding the Source of Depression and Anxiety

We’ve often wondered what things lead to depression and anxiety in our biology.

It’s stress hormones.  And, it doesn’t necessarily mean that one has a stressful life.  It can be changes in one’s body, diet, job, relationship, or finances.  It can be biological changes, depending on what age one is, particularly as a female where certain hormones either become insufficiently produced or produced in erratic quantities.

So how difficult is finding the source of depression?  Biologically speaking, the presence of the stress hormones depletes the production of the nitric oxide gas in the brain and that in turn depletes the production of the endorphins, which are responsible for anxiety and depression in the dopamine.

The depletion of hormones and neuro-transmitters is the most common cause associated with depression.  However, once the cause is identified, the solution is as simple as muting or eliminating the production of the stress hormones, introducing specific supplements to increase the production of nitric oxide, and at the same time, introducing the neuro-transmitters associated with regulating anxiety and depression as a symptom, things like dopamine and serotonin.

3 Vitamins That Boost Your Immune System

Determine the Best Vitamin C for Natural Home Remedy

With many vitamin manufacturers being somewhat untrustworthy and with claims that the efficacy of vitamin C is being depleted during the production process, many people are asking the same question:  Is there a difference between one vitamin C pill and another—other than the manufacturer?

There are differences, such as the different forms of vitamin C where some are synthetic while others are natural.  The source of Vitamin C is also a distinguishing factor.  Some manufacturers extract the vitamin from the peels and pulps of the fruits and vegetables while others synthesize it in the lab.

An L-Form vitamin C is the shape of the molecule itself.  The natural and synthetic L-ascorbic acids are chemically identical.  There are really no known differences in their biological activity.  The possibility that the bioavailability of L-ascorbic acid from natural sources might differ from that of synthetic ascorbic acid is not established.  Two human studies found there are no clinically significant differences observed.
